Meet the "Stories in Blue" Team
Stephanie Sandberg is a writer and director originally from California. She moved to Grand Rapids twenty years ago to work as a professor for Calvin College. Founding Artistic Director for ADAPT. Theatre company, Sandberg has written and directed many plays that seek social justice for minority groups in Grand Rapids, giving voice to the voiceless whenever the opportunity comes up. Most recently her play LINES: The Lived Experience of Race explored historical and more recent problems of racial justice that plague this community. Now a professor of theatre and film at Washington & Lee University, Sandberg returns to Grand Rapids for ArtPrize 8 to co-create Stories in Blue.
Dan Christmann (MLitt Playwrighting/Dramaturgy, University of Glasgow) is a Playwright, Poet, Dramaturg, Director, and founding member of ADAPT. Theatre Company. Most recently he has worked with ADAPT. on their production of LINES: The Lived experience of Race, and at Theatre-Y, a Chicago based company that focuses on international collaboration, and intersections of spirituality within the artistic experience. As an artist, Dan is interested in exploring formal innovation, improvisational practice, interdisciplinarity, and the relationship between the alien and mundane in everyday life.

Erica Monroe is a Speech Language Pathologist by day and a Maverick Tailor by night. She enjoys thrift shopping for copious quantities of table linens and sterling silver, horseback riding, gardening, and cooking. She resides in Heritage Hill with her amazing, talented and easily annoyed teenaged son, Simon.
